'Harry Potter' - Just a quick sketch of his face, which turned out quite nicely. One of these days I'll get round to doing another one...
'Hermione' - This is more like it. I like the character of Hermione because she doesn't allow herself to be wound up by Draco Malfoy, unlike HP and RW who do so with tedious regularity. I think I'm getting better at drawing hair quickly. Quicker than my old style of 'one hair at a time', that is.
'Neville Longbottom' - Poor old Neville. He looks like he's just had a roasting from Professor Snape.
'Trevor' - Neville's toad. He doesn't have a big part in the books, but sometimes manages to make his presence felt. I suspect this picture will be a good starting point for a portrait of Prof. Umbridge...
'Mrs Norris' - Filch's cat. I learnt an important lesson after drawing this one. That is, actually read the description in the book before starting to draw. Oops. This is a nice picture of a cat, but it ain't grey, skeletal or in possesion of lamp-like eyes. Oh well.
'Errol' - No, he's not dead, he's just resting. Yes, it's dear old Errol, the Weasley family owl. See if you can spot the non-deliberate mistake.
'Dudley Dursley' - This one didn't quite turn out as I'd hoped, being considerably more grotesque than planned, but as Harry describes him as 'a pig in a wig' then maybe it doesn't matter.
'Fawkes' - This is Dumbledore's phoenix, sitting on his perch in Dumbledore's office. I did a little research for this one, but there isn't a consensus as to what a phoenix should actually look like.
'Prof. Remus Lupin' - Here is the heroic Prof. Lupin, asleep on the Hogwart's Express. It has taken me two years to complete this drawing. :-S But I think it has turned out quite well. I would, however, like to state for the record that I STILL hate drawing hair.
'The Whomping Willow' - Tree-huggers beware! It's the Whomper itself, looking suitably evil. This is definitely one of my favourite characters. :-) Here we see it in a sad state, following a collision with a flying Ford Anglia. Hence the bandages. Well, gnarled trees are a bit of a fantasy art cliche, but I enjoy drawing them. It's time-consuming, but not that hard to do.
'Mad-Eye Moody' - Whoa! Scary pic. I started out really wanting to produce my own mind's image of this character, and utterly failed. Instead, I ended up with this guy, who looks a bit like Freddy Kreuger. Oh well, better luck next time.
'Bubotuber' - I was suddenly seized by a strange desire to draw a big fat bubotuber. And so I did, complete with oozing pustules. Enjoy.
'Blast-ended Skrewt' - An immature male of the genus Manticorus Blastius Scarius Willius. The male is identified by the large stinging appendage, as opposed to the female which features an abdominal sucking device. Handle with care.
'Grindylow' - This is the small, horned water-demon with the long and brittlefingers. And this is one of those rare drawings that have actually turned out as I pictured it in my head, more or less. It's supposed to be shaking it's fist. Just in case you wondering.
'Cho Chang' - Oops! I've been a bit lazy again. Sorry about that. Anyway, here's the Ravenclaw Quidditch seeker holding her Comet 260. I think I am now finally over my hair phobia. I now hate the prospect of anything involving hands and feet. Neck-up drawings from now on, methinks.
'Luna Lovegood' - My favourite character in book 5! And here's my tribute to the Loony one in the form of this partially messed up portrait. After 5 attempts I got the eyes to bulge. Very slightly. And of course, blonde hair + dark background = nightmare. But overall, not bad. Wahoo!
'Bowtruckle' - My second favourite creature from book 5, as drawn and bled over by Harry Potter (note the razor-sharp claws. Ouch!). There is a certain similarity of expression between this and the whomping willow above, but there are only so many ways you can draw mean in wood. Not that I believe that these things are really vicious, however. I think their bark is worse than their bite...
'Mad-Eye Moody's Mad Eye' - Moody had to take his eye out for a quick rinse in book 5. I remember reading it at the time and thinking to myself, aha! Now there's something that needs drawing. And here is the ocular orb in question, at the bottom of a glass of water.
'Brain Tank' - My favourite creatures from book 5. The brains. The braaaains... the braaaaaaaaains. See how they bump gently against the glass, those wet, glistening, plump, juicy braaaaaaaaaaaaains. Ahem. Sorry. All that shading has turned me into a zombie.
'Crookshanks' - Actually, this isn't a drawing of Crookshanks. In fact, it depicts a cat of my acquaintance who only agreed to pose for this picture on condition that he receive an extra portion of meat for breakfast. He does, however, look a tiny bit like Crookshanks as I imagine him.
'Pigwidgeon' - 'Oh, look at the weeny owl! Isn't he cute?' Yes, he is. Here we have everyone's favourite ball of feathers struggling to pick up a piece of parchment. I've probably gone way over the top with the detail here, but who cares.
